The ASUS P5G41-M is the basis for a cheap Home Theatre PC (HTPC) with a HDMI interface and Optical Audio.
The backpanel lacks 'legacy' connectors like COM and LPT, anothor connector that is missing is the DVI, you'll find it on the P5G41-M LE which is basically the same board but is not equipped with the HTPC items like Optical Audio Out and HDMI.
The COM 1and LPT ports are placed below the last PCI slot at the bottom of this board, there's no floppy connector.
There PCI Express X16 (version 1.1) capabilities of the P5G41-M are about half the speed of boards that are equipped with the PCI Express version 2.0. Modern Graphics Cards are backward compatible with PCI express 1.1.
There is a maximum of 8GB DDR2 memory, 1066MHz modules will have to be overcloced to get their proper speed.
The P5G41-M is equipped with an Energy Processing Unit, the ASUS EPU-L chip, unfortunately this feature is not accompanied with ASUS software like EPU-4. To protect the board from power surges or unstable power fluctuations the P5G41-M has a built-in Anti-Surge.
